Upon arrival at Moscow airport our driver will be waiting with a Go Russia sign to transfer you to the ship where a cocktail reception will enable you to mix with your fellow passengers.
Day 2
Moscow
City Tour around Moscow. Red Square
Although the ship will be our base, we disembark for a bus tour of the sprawling Russian capital. First, we'll take in the panoramic view of the city from the Sparrow Hills observation platform. Once you've got your bearings, we'll continue to the centre of this bustling city, we will find ourselves in iconic locations such as Teatralyna Square, home to the Bolshoi ballet, and of course, Red Square.
Day 3
Moscow
Kremlin Territory with Cathedrals
Focusing today on Moscow's historical and cultural gems, we head back to Red Square to admire the Byzantine splendour of St Basil's Cathedral with its instantly recognisable coloured domes. Red Square is also the place to find GUM department store and Lenin's Mausoleum. Tucked inside the Kremlin's walls are a clutch of Russian Orthodox cathedrals. An optional tour of the Armoury Museum which exhibits the Tsar's jewels, crowns, thrones and regal armour is also offered.
Day 4
Uglich
Visit to the Cathedral of the Resurrection and the Kremlin
There's no better way to arrive in Uglich than by water as the view of the town as approached from the Volga River is especially splendid. The Cathedral of the Resurrection and St. John's Church dominate the horizon. At the end of the 16th century, one of Ivan the Terrible's wives lived in honorary exile inside the Kremlin at Uglich. We will visit the Cathedral of the Resurrection and the Kremlin, among the oldest buildings in Uglich.
Day 5
Yaroslavl
City Tour around Yaroslavl
Yaroslavl is one of the most charming cities in the country, an important port with a population of 600,000, stretching for 18 miles on both banks of the Volga. Its founder was Prince Yaroslav the Wise who established a settlement here in the 11th century. A couple of centuries later the Spassky Monastery complex was added and in the 17th century, several beautiful cathedrals. There's much to see on our guided tour today including the Spaso-Preobrazhenskiy Monastery, the Church of the Prophet Elijah, the remains of an ancient trading centre and an elegant rotunda.
Day 6
Goritsy
Visit to the Largest Monastery of the Russian North
Diminutive Goritsy is unexpectedly home to the largest Russian Orthodox monastery in the north of Russia. We'll visit the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery before continuing our river journey in the afternoon.
Day 7
Kizhi
Visit to the Open-air Museum of Wooden Architecture
Reached by the Volga-Baltic Canal, our ship's port of call today will be at the little island of Kizhi. Located on Lake Onega, it is the site of the open air Museum of Wooden Architecture, a fascinating UNESCO-listed collection of wooden buildings rescued from across Russia. The highlight must surely be the Church of the Transfiguration, with twenty two domes, the ultimate in Russian fairy-tale church architecture.
Day 8
Mandrogi
Free Time in the Village. Optional Excursions
Having sailed past beautiful countryside, it's good to see it from land too so our stop today will be at the village of Mandrogi. The villagers will greet us with a programme showcasing their traditions and culture and we'll also take the opportunity to visit a museum devoted to vodka (optional) where you can learn all there is to know about the manufacture and history of this classically Russian drink. You'll have plenty of time to explore on your own, perhaps taking a stroll through the surrounding forest.
Day 9
St. Petersburg
City Tour around St. Petersburg
The boat docks in St Petersburg today, our final stop. We'll use the vessel as our base whilst hopping off to explore. We begin with a guided tour of some of the sights of this world-renowned city built on 101 islands dotted among a network of canals and rivers. You'll see the Peter & Paul Fortress, the Church of Christ’s Resurrection (The Saviour of the Blood), which revives the traditions of 17th century Russian church building and much more besides.
Day 10
St. Petersburg
Visit to the Hermitage
Ask any resident to tell you which is their most famous museum and they won't hesitate. The Hermitage's collection of over three million works of art from masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt and Picasso puts it into a class of its own. The building itself is stunning; once the Tsar's Winter Palace, it occupies a prime location in the city overlooking the River Neva. Even spending a day in this great museum will leave you longing for more.
Day 11

Our driver will meet you with a Go Russia sign board at the ship and will transfer you swiftly and safely to the airport for your flight home.
