Opening soon: Moscow’s first clownarium

Travel News in Russia, ex USSR, Mongolia & China
The first clownarium will open for visitors on the premises of Skazka Park in Krylatskoye in December. The most brilliant characters of the buffoonery genre – mimes, jesters and many more – will gather under the same roof. In all, 30 clowns will be involved.

The new circus venue can seat 100 people. The clownarium will look like a fairy-tale wooden hut. It will consist of two areas – the auditorium with a stage and the children’s cafeteria – on a total area of 400 square metres.

The press service added that winter entertainment will be on the park’s agenda in the run up to the New Year holidays. By late November, a 1,500-square-metre indoor skating rink will be opened. The facility will have changing rooms and benches. Visitors will also be able to take a ride across the park on a Russian sleigh harnessed to three horses and on a sled pulled by husky dogs.

A huge wood-fired samovar with a 100 litre capacity will be installed on the central square. It will be the centre of tea parties on a daily basis. A samovar museum will also open with nearly 200 different samovars – from wood-fired to electric ones – on display. Visitors will learn the history of the samovar and the nuances of making flavoured tea. They will be able to choose any samovar they like and test out their newly acquired knowledge and skills.

Before the New Year, park-goers will be able to visit Father Frost in an ice house with ice furniture. Father Frost will wish his guests a happy new year, conduct contests and hand out gifts.
