The food is tasty if not earth-shattering. The Szechuan duck, one of their specialties, is a good choice at £8. In fact all of their meals are reasonably priced and won’t disappoint. The interior of this duck-place is an interesting mixture of the traditional Chinese and modern European style - small lamps and straw at the floor, casual chairs, tables, candles at them, a fireplace, etc. The main feature of the restaurant is an attempt to reconstitute old recipes and forms of Chinese cuisine in general and one dish in particular. However, classical elements from the past don t exclude originality. "Pecking duck" dish is a visiting card of the northern Chinese cuisine. With a chef from Guangdong, a menu emphasizing “imperial” cuisine of Guangzhou, a luxurious interior and impeccable service the restaurant has many interesting features to distinguish it from other chinese restaurants. Here the steamed rice is free, as it should be. Another pleasant surprise is the chopped red and green hot chili peppers as an optional side — also gratis. The drinks menu is extensive. Try something you’d never had before - “pirozhki po-guandzhouski,” crispy pastry triangles of chicken and wood fungus with coconut milk dipping sauce on the side (£4). The slightly sweet coconut milk sauce is smooth and refreshing, an unusual complement to the scrumptious, slightly spring roll-like pirozhki — which in themselves are an interesting alternative to the ubiquitous spring roll.
