Guilin

Guilin is located in the north of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the west bank of the Li River. It is one of the most popular travel destinations in China for its beautiful landscape and unique scenery. City’s name means "forest of Sweet Osmanthus", because of many fragrant Sweet Osmanthus trees.

Guilin has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate, with mild winters and long, hot, and humid summers. The best time to visit Guilin is from May to October. If you want to avoid the hot summer, you can visit Guilin in May or June.

There is so much to see in Guilin! Famous attractions in Guilin are the Li River, Yangshuo, Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill, Seven Star Park and the Two River and Four Lakes.

Tourists often spend one day in the city and one day on the Li River Cruise. In the city, you can visit Seven Star Park, Reed Flute Cave, Fubo Hill and Elephant Trunk Hill. The best landscapes of Guilin can be seen during the Li River Cruise. If you have more time, you can visit the counties of Guilin Prefecture, including Yangshuo, Ziyuan and Longsheng. The terraced fields in Longsheng are a worthwhile attraction to visit.

Guilin’s stunning landscape was used in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Also many scenes from the film The Painted Veil, were filmed in Guilin and the surrounding area.

Guilin cuisine is known for its snacks and the use of spices, especially chilli. The famous Guilin chili sauce, used widely in cooking by locals, is made of fresh chilli, garlic, and fermented soybeans, and is considered one of the city's Three Treasures.
