You'll be able to see first-hand the brightly colored domes of the sixteenth century St Basil's Cathedral and get up close and personal with Lenin's embalmed body in his Mausoleum, located at the foot of the Kremlin wall. No visit to Moscow would be complete without the chance to shop at the nearby GUM department store. Other highlights today include learning about the tragic history of the main Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (view from outside), the New Maiden's Convent (view from outside) with its fascinating cemetery and a stop near Moscow State University for a panoramic view over the capital.

The Kremlin was once the home of the Tsars and is now the residence of the Russian president. You'll visit the Armoury Museum, crammed full of weaponry, armor and even some of Faberge's famous eggs. Afterwards, we'll head underground to explore some of Moscow's beautiful metro stations. Decorated with marble, mosaic, stained glass and bronze sculptures, you'll agree they're more like museums than part of a transit system.
Day 6
Tuesday - Moscow
Kolomenskoe – UNESCO Heritage Site. Departure to St. Petersburg
Included in today's program is a visit just to the former Royal estate of Kolomenskoe. It dates from the fifteenth century and was the place where Peter the Great spent his childhood and Russian princes spent their summers. You'll also see the Church of the Ascension, built in 1532 by the Moscow Grand Prince Vasily III in order to thank God for the birth of his son and heir to the throne, who later became Ivan the Terrible. Later, you'll be met by our driver with a Go Russia sign board at the lobby of the hotel to transfer you to the "Grand Express". This overnight train will be your hotel on wheels, featuring spacious sleeping compartments; you have the opportunity to upgrade to a luxury compartment with toilets, showers, air-conditioning, wide sofas, LCD TV, DVD- players and Wi-Fi. You'll wake up in St Petersburg fully refreshed and raring to go.

The personal assistance given during the booking process was invaluable and resulted in my decision to book through the company. Each of the tour guides was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, able to answer any question threw at them, and each dealt well with situations that arose during the tours.

Tour guides in Kiev (Tanya) and St Petersburg (Tasha and Kate) were excellent. Also, Paul (the driver in Kiev) was excellent. He went out of his way to ensure we were on the correct train. Overall very happy with GO Russia's Organisation and Visa Application Process and I have already recommend to others wishing to travel to Russia.
Hayden Summers
Every little detail was catered for so that we felt safe and secure at all times that everything was taken care of. All the detail given before the trip was incredibly useful. Everything was on time and as planned. Guides were absolutely brilliant and their knowledge was amazing.
Peter Gould
Enough free time to explore on our own. Having the guides available for any help we needed. All guides spoke English very well. The places we toured were fabulous. Way beyond our expectations. The help with the visa process.
Abby Andrews
Given that it was a short holiday it was essential to have a pick up from the airport and transport arranged to railway stations and a guide with good English to give us the most from our Russian tour. All the tickets to the sites were pre bought which kept queuing down for entry and the holiday went like clock work. It also gave us the flexibility to add on different tours and excursions. Good mix of free time to explore and to participate in organised events.
Ethan Miller
What was so good about this trip and how Go Russia was different from other companies was that you use local guides only and there is no tour leader. This gave us a lot more free time to do what ever we wanted, eat where we wanted and yet still meet other travellers making use of the same local guide.
Kyle Clarke
All transfers and pickups were done on time. The guides were very helpful when required.
Ellis Hopkins
We really appreciated having our drivers help us to the actual train coach at the train stations. Since we don't speak any Russian, this was extremely helpful and reduced our stress considerably!! Also, our guide for 3 days in St Petersburg was Natasha and she was amazing!!
Maisie Hartley
The travel arrangements were smooth. The information from the company before and during our trip was clear. The guides and drivers were friendly and knowledgeable. The trip programme was varied and interesting.
Patrick Dennis
Well organised, good itinerary, excellent and friendly tour guides.
